Which size should I choose?
Choose in this order: menu → workflow → length → weight and driving licence.
- Compact 300–400 cm: limited space, solo operator, fast concept, single axle.
- Standard 450–500 cm: burgers, tacos, grill, pizza, coffee, street BBQ; 500 cm is the go-to choice when undecided.
- Full kitchen 550–600 cm: catering and events with higher output, separate prep and service.
- XL 650–700 cm: bistro, team of 2 to 5, two serving windows from 680 cm.

Is the price final? What affects the final price?
The base price is public. The final price depends on appliances, colour, branding and extras. You receive an exact quote with a layout within 72 hours of the consultation.
Shipping (up to 6 m from €2,900, over 6 m from €3,900), VAT and any customs duties are added to the trailer price.
Under our terms (Art. 4.2) we may adjust the price after order confirmation only if costs of materials, technology, transport, energy or exchange rates rise by more than 5%. We inform you of any adjustment without delay.
Terms and conditions: gastrotrailer.eu/gtc
Can the layout and interior be customised? Do you supply appliances?
Yes. Every interior is designed around your menu and appliances: burgers, pizza, coffee, BBQ or ramen. We design the trailer around your kitchen, not the other way round.
Kitchen appliances (grill, fryer, pizza oven, coffee machine, refrigeration, extraction) are not in the base price. We can quote them separately from vetted suppliers in Europe, or plan in your own.

Ordering, production and delivery
Process, lead times, shipping and changes. · 8 articles
How does ordering work, step by step?
- Free consultation – we define your concept, size and technical needs (gastrotrailer.eu/consultation).
- Quote within 72 hours – layout, visualisation and exact price.
- First deposit 40% – after you approve the layout and price. The first deposit confirms the order and reserves production capacity.
- Production and shipping, 8–10 weeks – you receive photos and video before loading; you pay the second 40% only after approving them.
- Inspection and keys – EU COC, technical inspection, handover and the final 20%.
The contract is formed by signing, by confirming the quote by e-mail or by paying the advance invoice (Terms Art. 3.1). E-mail counts as written form.
How long do production and delivery take?
Usually 8–10 weeks from the first deposit to handover in the EU, including sea freight. We confirm the date when you sign the order.
Lead times are indicative. Extensions caused by the manufacturer, subcontractors, type approval, customs, component shortages, logistics, force majeure or a specification change on your side are not a delay (Terms Art. 5.1). We keep you informed of any change.
How much is shipping and where do you deliver?
Shipping: trailers up to 6 m from €2,900, over 6 m from €3,900 (excl. VAT). Sea freight is part of the 8–10 week lead time. Trailer prices exclude VAT, shipping and customs.
We deliver across the EU; a trailer with EU COC can be registered in any EU country. Handover takes place after technical inspection and an equipment check.
Can I change the specification during production?
Yes, but a change during production may extend the delivery date, adjust the price or incur additional costs (Terms Art. 3.3). Changes are binding only once confirmed in writing; e-mail counts as written form.
It is cheapest to finalise everything before the first deposit: in the consultation and when approving the layout.
Who builds the trailer and who is my contracting party?
Your contracting party and the invoicing company is AJM Fu s.r.o., Ulica svornosti 42, 821 06 Bratislava, Slovakia, Company ID 54160766. AJM Fu s.r.o. acts as an intermediary or distributor, not the manufacturer; where it is named on an order, invoice or contract it is the seller or supplier for that deal (Terms Art. 1.2).
We sell to businesses only (B2B); the terms do not apply to consumers. Slovak law applies.
What if I don't take delivery on the agreed date?
If you don't take delivery on the agreed date, a storage fee of €30 per commenced day accrues after 7 days, and we may arrange storage at your cost (Terms Art. 5.2). Unjustified non-acceptance may also give rise to damages.
If you know you can't make the date, contact us early at [email protected] and we'll find a solution.
What if the trailer isn't right on delivery?
Before loading you receive photos and video of the finished trailer and pay the second 40% only after approving them. The final 20% is paid on handover, when the trailer is in front of you, after technical inspection and an equipment check.
If you find a defect at handover, it is recorded in the handover protocol and resolved under the claims procedure (repair, part replacement or a discount). For custom builds, tolerances up to ±3% and minor cosmetic differences that don't affect function are not defects.
When should I order to be ready for the spring season?
Production and shipping take about 8–10 weeks from the first deposit. If you want to use the trailer from the start of the spring season (April), the design should be approved and production started by January at the latest.
This isn't a sales trick, just production and shipping counted back from April. During production you handle business registration, suppliers, operating procedures, cash register, insurance and inspections in parallel. Book a consultation: tidycal.com/vedomylider/gastrotrailer-consultation
Payment and financing
40/40/20 payment schedule, loans, leasing, cancellation. · 5 articles
How do I pay? What does 40 / 40 / 20 mean?
You don't pay everything at once. The payment schedule protects you:
| Instalment | When |
|---|---|
| 40% | after you approve the project – layout and price confirmed, production starts only with your approval |
| 40% | when you see the finished trailer – you get photos and video before loading; this payment is your quality sign-off |
| 20% | on handover – the trailer is in front of you, after technical inspection and an equipment check |
All prices exclude VAT. Invoiced by AJM Fu s.r.o., Bratislava. Production may be paused if a payment is overdue (Terms Art. 4.3). More: gastrotrailer.eu/financing
Can I finance a GastroTrailer with a loan or leasing?
Yes. We work with partners for business loans and financial leasing. Terms depend on your company and creditworthiness; we put you in touch with a partner after the consultation.
AJM Fu s.r.o. does not provide financial advice under Slovak Act No. 186/2009; recommendations on leasing and loans are for information only (Terms Art. 1.3).
Note: until fully paid, the trailer remains the property of AJM Fu s.r.o. and may not be rented out or pledged (Terms Art. 6). With leasing, the process is agreed with the leasing company. More: gastrotrailer.eu/financing
When do I become the owner of the trailer?
Ownership passes to you only on full payment of the entire price including related costs (retention of title, Terms Art. 6.1). Risk of damage passes when you sign the handover protocol or when you were obliged to take delivery.
Until full payment you may not transfer, pledge, rent out or use the trailer as security. If a payment is more than 14 days overdue we may suspend production or delivery.
Can I cancel my order?
Trailers are built to order to your specification. Therefore you cannot withdraw unilaterally after paying the first deposit (Terms Art. 9.1). If an order is cancelled the cancellation fee is at least 40% of the order price, or demonstrably higher costs (production, technology, logistics, capacity reservation).
That is why you receive the layout, visualisation and exact price before the first deposit, which is paid only after your approval. Full text: gastrotrailer.eu/gtc
Are prices including or excluding VAT?
All prices on the website, in the 2026 catalogue and in quotes are excluding VAT unless stated otherwise (Terms Art. 4.1). Trailer prices also exclude shipping and customs. We sell to businesses (B2B).
Legal, COC and operation
EU COC, registration, hygiene, licence, permits, power. · 4 articles
Do I need an EU COC certificate? Can I register the trailer in any country?
If you want EU registration and to operate in public spaces in the EU, yes. Models 300–700 cm are type-approved on an AL-KO chassis and come with EU COC as standard in the base price.
This means you can register the trailer in any EU country and operate legally in every member state. Be careful with trailers that lack this certificate.
Will the trailer pass hygiene inspection? Which permits do I need?
COC models are built to EU standards for mobile food units. We provide the technical documentation and certificate of conformity for your local food authority. Hygiene (sink, water, waste water) is designed to requirements from the start.
Most formalities can be handled during production: business registration, hygiene approval, food-handling qualification, cash register, insurance and inspections.
Always confirm the exact requirements with your local authority; they vary by municipality, region and concept.
Which driving licence and towing vehicle do I need?
It depends on the total weight of the trailer and your vehicle. Smaller models have one AL-KO axle (1,500–1,800 kg) and are lighter; larger ones have two or three axles (2,500–3,200 kg). For larger models you will usually need a B+E licence and a vehicle with sufficient towing capacity.
We state the weights of your configuration in the quote and check them against your actual vehicle, so you don't buy something you can't tow.
What power connection do I need?
Every trailer has a distribution board with circuit breakers and a 2× 32 A connector. Add up the power of all appliances before ordering: fryer, grill and refrigeration together will trip a weak supply.
If you run on a generator, choose one with reserve capacity. We can supply a generator as an extra. We check the power budget when designing the layout.
Warranty, service and claims
Warranty periods, claims, service and tolerances. · 4 articles
What warranty do you provide?
Unless the contract states otherwise (Terms Art. 7.1):
| Item | Warranty |
|---|---|
| food trailer | 12 months |
| premium warranty | 24 or 36 months |
| technology and appliances | per manufacturer |
| accessories | 6 months |
The condition is the prescribed maintenance per the manufacturer's instructions and keeping service records. Warranty and post-warranty service are provided, and spare parts are available in the EU.
How do I make a warranty claim?
Send the claim to [email protected] (or via this helpdesk) with:
- your company details,
- invoice number,
- VIN or serial number,
- description of the defect,
- photos.
Allow an inspection of the defect; without it the claim may be rejected. Do not repair the defect yourself without our written consent, as this may void the warranty. We resolve claims by repair, part replacement, a reasonable discount or another suitable solution, usually within 45 days (Terms Art. 7.5–7.8).
What does the warranty not cover?
The warranty does not cover normal wear, consumables, seals, bulbs, filters, gas hoses, cosmetic defects, transport damage after handover, vandalism, natural disasters or improper handling (Terms Art. 7.4).
The warranty lapses in particular with missing or unprovable maintenance, unprofessional intervention, non-original components used without consent, or use contrary to purpose.
What manufacturing tolerances apply to custom builds?
For custom builds the following are not defects: dimensional deviations up to ±3%, variations in material shade, substitute components of equal or higher quality (where the originals are unavailable) and minor cosmetic differences that do not affect function (Terms Art. 5.3 and 13.8).
Before loading you receive photos and video of the finished trailer and pay the second instalment only after approving them.
Business and operations
Location, menu, revenue vs. profit and 7 mistakes. · 3 articles
How do I choose a good location?
Location drives revenue more than the trailer does. The same burger can make €49 at one spot and €764 at another per day (model example from our webinar).
We score locations 0–100: relevant customers (25), regular footfall (20), ability to stop and buy (15), purchasing power (10), competition (10), visibility (10), pitch cost (5), technical and legal feasibility (5).
Rule before any points: if the trailer can't stand there legally and technically, the spot is out. Check locations and your first five events before you sign an order. This is our working method, not a scientific index.
Revenue isn't profit: how do I work out whether it pays off?
Five hundred euros of revenue can still be a loss-making day if you leave out ingredients, staff, pitch fees, energy and travel. So calculate the whole season, not one day.
The website has a payback calculator (gastrotrailer.eu/investors). It is a model calculation with your assumptions, not a forecast or guarantee. The result depends on concept, location, pricing and costs. We go through your numbers with you in the free consultation: gastrotrailer.eu/consultation
7 mistakes before investing in a food trailer
- Thinking the trailer guarantees success. It's a tool and physical work, not passive income.
- A poor location. It kills even a good concept; not every big festival pays off (weigh the fee against footfall).
- Too many menu items. 6–8 items you can prepare in under 3 minutes.
- A kitchen without a planned workflow. Crossing paths and a badly placed fryer can cost a third of your customers (100 vs. 160 a day).
- Confusing revenue with profit.
- Underestimating power. Add up the load; size a generator with reserve.
- One big event instead of a calendar. Regular markets, business parks, private events and Christmas markets spread the risk.
None of these mistakes is about the trailer; all are about the business model. Business model first, trailer second. The full explanation is in our free webinar: gastrotrailer.eu/webinar
Concerns and objections
Honest answers to the most common concerns before buying. · 12 articles
“I don't have enough money for this.”
The smallest model starts at €25,200 excl. VAT. For most concepts the investment including equipment is roughly between €30,000 and €50,000.
You don't need it all at once: you pay 40%, 40% and 20% as production progresses. We also work with partners for business loans and leasing; terms depend on your company and creditworthiness.
In the consultation we tell you which size you really need so you don't over-invest: gastrotrailer.eu/consultation
“I'll pay and won't get what I wanted.”
A reasonable concern. That's why you don't pay at once:
- the first 40% only after approving the layout and price,
- the second 40% only after you've seen and approved photos and video of the finished trailer,
- the final 20% on handover after technical inspection.
Invoices come from the Slovak company AJM Fu s.r.o., Bratislava, Company ID 54160766; contracts are governed by Slovak law. You don't have to trust us blindly; you check every step.
“Can I tow it with a normal car and a B licence?”
It depends on the trailer size and your car. Smaller models have one axle and are lighter; for larger ones you'll usually need a B+E licence and a vehicle with sufficient towing capacity.
We check this against your actual vehicle before the quote, so you don't buy something you can't tow.
“Do you guarantee revenue or payback?”
No. And be wary of anyone who does. In the webinar and the calculator we show model calculations; the result depends on concept, location, pricing and costs.
A food trailer is a tool, not passive income: you load, hitch and level in the morning and clean in the evening. A more passive model is a rental fleet (gastrotrailer.eu/investors). We go through your numbers honestly in the consultation, and if it doesn't make sense we'll tell you.
“Isn't a bricks-and-mortar venue safer?”
It can be. A fixed venue has advantages: a permanent spot, regulars, no towing. A food trailer isn't for everyone.
The trailer's advantage is that you're not tied to rent and a long fit-out: from deposit to first sale is 8–10 weeks, and you can move to where the customers are. The trailer is also a tangible asset you can operate, rent out or sell. Decide by the numbers, not by what looks good on Instagram.
“I can find a cheaper trailer elsewhere.”
Maybe. When comparing, look at what's included:
- EU COC certificate and type-approved AL-KO braked axle (without them you can't legally register in the EU),
- stainless body, insulation, 2× 32 A electrics, water system and lighting as standard,
- a public price and an interior designed around your menu,
- 40/40/20 payment, the second instalment only after photos and video of the finished trailer,
- warranty, service and spare parts in the EU, invoiced by an EU-based company.
Compare the same equipment and the same risk, not just the price.
“What if it doesn't work and I don't make money?”
The most important question. The answer isn't courage, it's a calculation. That's why the webinar also runs a cautious scenario with 30% fewer customers. If your concept doesn't work on paper, you shouldn't buy a trailer, and we'll tell you so plainly in the consultation.
If it does, you still have an advantage over a fixed venue: no lease, and the trailer can be sold or rented out. Let's run your numbers: tidycal.com/vedomylider/gastrotrailer-consultation
“Weather and season. I won't earn anything in winter.”
Weather is a real risk and won't go away. The answer is a calendar: regular markets, business parks, covered food zones, private events with revenue agreed in advance, and Christmas markets, which for many concepts are the strongest part of the year.
Our model calculations assume about 100 trading days (two events a week from April to October plus Christmas). That's a model assumption, not a guarantee.
“I have no experience running a food business.”
A food trailer is one of the simplest forms of food business: a short menu of 6–8 items and one main product. Training takes hours, not weeks.
We know the most common beginner mistakes: buying the trailer before designing the menu, underestimating power, choosing too little space or pricing the menu without margin. We go through them with you in the consultation, before production: tidycal.com/vedomylider/gastrotrailer-consultation
“Where will I sell? I won't get good spots.”
Check this before you buy. Our advice: book at least five events for your first season before signing an order. Business parks, food parks, markets and private events are often easier to get than big festivals.
Not every big festival pays off: weigh the fee against expected footfall and prefer events with a limited number of food vendors. See the article on choosing a location for how to score a spot.
“The consultation will just be sales pressure.”
It won't. The consultation is 30 minutes about your concept, menu, location, team and budget. If it doesn't make sense for you, we'll say so plainly. You pay nothing and commit to nothing.

Fleet investment: how does renting out food trailers work?
A trailer is a tangible asset with resale value. You can:
- operate it – your own concept at festivals, markets and events,
- rent it out – to operators for a season or for events,
- build a fleet – 3 or more units at a fleet price with a uniform specification.
The most common fleet choice is the Airstream 700 cm. You may rent to third parties only after the trailer is fully paid (Terms Art. 6.4). Returns are models, not guarantees. We'll send you a fleet offer and scenario model: gastrotrailer.eu/investors
